The Women in Engineering Program at The University of Texas at Austin is hosting the following two overnight summer camps for current high school sophomores (who will be juniors in the 2017-2018 school year) and current high school juniors (who will be seniors in the 2017-2018 school year):
Women Engineers at UT (WEatUT) Sunday, July 23 – Wednesday, July 26, 2017 UT Austin Campus Women Engineers at The University of Texas at Austin (WEatUT) is an overnight summer camp for rising high school senior students. Students will live in the dorms on the UT Austin campus and explore engineering through engineering session, lunches with alumni and professionals, tours of engineering facilities and hands-on projects! CREATEatUT by the Women in Engineering Program Sunday, July 16 – Wednesday, July 19, 2017 UT Austin Campus CREATEatUT, hosted by the Women in Engineering Program, is a summer camp for students going into their junior year of high school who have an interest in math, technology, science or engineering. Students will live in the dorms on the UT Austin campus and participate in hands-on engineering projects, tours, student panel sessions and more! Applications are open for both camps from until April 15. Sam Houston State University’s Elliot T. Bowers Honors College Open House on Saturday, November 12. The Open House will be held at 11:00 am in the Olson Auditorium, Academic Building IV, Room 220, on the SHSU campus.
Your outstanding students will learn more about the special programs and scholarships available through the Honors College at Sam Houston State University. Additionally, your students will meet Honors College faculty and Honor Student Ambassadors, and receive information about Honors housing, academic advising, study abroad, undergraduate research, and honors seminars and courses. Each student admitted to the Honors College receives the Elliott T. Bowers Scholarship, valued up to $2800.00. Eligible students are considered for additional competitive academic awards, including the President’s Scholarship, the University Scholars, and the Undergraduate Academic Achievement Award. BioFORCE Summer Academy 2016 Student Opportunity
The National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM) at Texas A&M University will be hosting its BioFORCE Summer Academy for interested high school students. BioFORCE is an experiential Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program of the NCTM that provides developmental activities with a focus on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. BioFORCE Summer Academies offer high school students a unique opportunity to learn about cutting-edge research, medical discoveries, and biomanufacturing, to prepare for college programs in engineering and science, and ultimately, to pursue a career in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries. BioFORCE Summer Academy will accept students from statewide high schools who will have completed the 9th, 10th, or 11th grade by June 3, 2016. This 4-day residential academy allows the students to get a feel for a college campus by staying in on-campus housing and enjoying university activities. As summer draws closer and families will be finalizing their summer plans, we would appreciate your assistance in immediately distributing the attached forms with information about the BioFORCE Summer Academy to your students and their parents. The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum is responsible for preserving President Bush’s official records, personal papers, and museum artifacts for use in research and exhibit. The Library and Museum is involved in educational programs and participation in innovative programs utilizing the resources of Texas A&M University, and the talent and energy of the citizens of the Brazos Valley. The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum tells the story of the life and times of its namesake.
On a larger scale, this Library and Museum also focuses on American history with an emphasis on post-World War II history and the office of the presidency. It takes many people to accomplish this mission. The professional staff of the museum will form a partnership with a dedicated team of volunteers. The Library encourages the involvement and participation of student interns and volunteers to carry out its mission. A free academic camp for students currently in grades 6-12 Time: June 20-24, 8:30am – 4pm Location YMCA Building, on the Texas A&M campus Details: Aggie Philosophy Camp for Teens will introduce students to some of Western philosophy’s most influential ideas and persistent questions. But you will learn so much more than what some old guys thought many years ago! Taught by Texas A&M University faculty and graduate students, the Philosophy for Teens camp offers students a transformative experience. Philosophy camp students will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on these big ideas, learn and practice critical thinking, and improve logical and creative thinking. Just a few of the big question: • What is ethics? • What is friendship? • Do we have moral obligations to animals? • Are we free? • What is best form of government? and yes, even the old stand-by… • What is the meaning of life? If you ever found yourself wondering about these or similar questions, this camp is for you!
